If you haven't played before you will benefit from attending a badminton course aimed at beginners. Courses teach you the basics of play and they ensure that you play safely, for maximum enjoyment. You will also meet like-minded people who will probably welcome the opportunity to play socially. The courses page in the coaching section of this website contains information about courses running locally and nationally.

Remember that badminton is very accessible sport - why not simply book a court at your local sports centre so that you can play socially with freinds or family? The resources page in the coaching section of this website contains contact information for local sports centres.

There are about 600 people in Torbay and District who regularly play badminton as members of one of our clubs. If you would like to join them simply contact the secretary of any of the clubs to find out how to take the next step. All the contact information, as well as other information about the clubs is contained in the clubs section of this website.

Many courses operate on a seasonal basis so depending on the time of year you may have to wait before you get a chance to join. You will also find that the playing skills required for entry into a club will vary - most clubs find it difficult to admit complete beginners so it is worth getting some practice before the start of the club season.

There are various clubs for juniors, some of which are linked to 'senior' clubs, providing opportunities for young people to gain skills and playing opportunities, often at reduced rates. Junior clubs are also listed in the clubs section of this website.
